Organically certified and drawn by the pure, chalky limestone soils and calcareous clays, we seek to reflect the characteristic expression of our site and soil in the wines we make, looking for quality, fruit concentration and expression of terroir.
The Great New Zealand Pinot Noir Classification was set up by British wine writer Matthew Jukes and Australian Tyson Stelzer they call it “a purposeful contrast to static classifications such as the famous Bordeaux 1855 Classification”. Bell Hill has again received a 5 Star Rating for the 6th Consecutive Year. Bell Hill is one of only 4 New Zealand wineries with 5 stars.
2019 Bell Hill Pinot Noir
98pts James Suckling
"Really beautiful and silky with perfectly ripe strawberries, chocolate, hazelnut and light toffee in both the nose and on the palate. Full-bodied yet tensioned and focused. Very fine tannins. It goes on for minutes. Love."
96pts Bob Campbell
"Lacking depth of colour but showing surprising power with flavours that suggest red cherry, floral/red rose and fresh herb flavours. Vibrant, high energy pinot noir that will mellow with bottle age. Elegant wine. Five-Star Gold Rating
