The wine. Sandrone’s Barolo Vite Talin 2015 is a study in contrasts - the wine shows both the character of the grape and that of the vintage. The 2015 vintage shines through in the expansive perfume - red raspberries, red cherries, pomegranate and licorice, with undercurrents of garrigue, rosemary and rose petals. The palate shows the character of the grape - great structure, significant tannins and penetrating acidity. At first, the palate is completely closed, but with patient airing the fruit and rose flavors emerge. The finish shows the ripe, deep tannins that are the trademark of Vite Talin, along with smoky, meaty and savory notes. The finish seems to linger for minutes on the palate, balanced by the freshness of the acid and the red fruits of the mid-palate. This wine should be cellared for 10-12 years before it begins to emerge from the shell and will then reward the consumer for long time.
