Pieropan’s flagship single vineyard wine is always fermented in 500 litre oak barrels and has a rich opulence and wonderful concentration.
It has been awarded the Italian White Wine Trophy at the International Wine Challenge numerous times – rightly so ! The newly shipped 2019 has a gorgeous nose packed with aromas of Cavaillon melons, grapefruit and citrus. It is creamy, exotic and immediately appealing. On the palate the wine is plush, full, fleshy, soft and textured with peach and melon fruits. Despite this rich and rounded mouthfeel, there is plenty of zippy, refreshing acidity, mineral notes and a zesty, citrusy, clean finish. This is a great vintage of La Rocca and there is no better time to enjoy it than during the summer months.
La Rocca is situated on the only limestone outcrop in Soave, producing a singular example of the garganega grape and one of Italy’s great white wines. A rich, opulent white that has been allowed to develop structure and complexity through ageing in 500-litre barrels, it sports lemon, almond and apple scents, fascinating mineral notes on the palate and a long finish.
