The Jadot Clos de la Roche is a purchased wine, but it hails from the same two vignerons which the domaine has been buying from for many decades. The 2011 has turned out beautifully, offering up a classic bouquet of black cherries, plums, game, dark chocolate, lovely soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite plush on the attack, with the elegance of the vintage very much in evidence, very good depth at the core, ripe tannins and a long, focused and complex finish. Perhaps there is just a tiny lack of backend energy vis à vis the domaine’s own 2011 grand crus, but this is high class juice that will age very well indeed. (Drink between 2022-2050)
