Matured in 50% new oak, it has quite a healthy, deep ruby color. The bouquet had just a little reduction, but underneath there is plenty of tightly knit blackberry, cranberry and redcurrant fruit, chalk and light incense aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, vibrant red and black fruit with just a faint licorice edge, not enormously long in the mouth but it fans out with style. Give this 3 or 4 years in bottle, and you will have a great Clos de Vougeot on your hands.
